Privacy · The Queen City newsletter
What we keep, and what we don’t.
In Queen City, everybody wants something on you. Not here. You hand over an email address, it goes in one file drawer, and it never gets sold down the river. Here’s the whole story, straight.
The short version
- If you join the Queen City newsletter, we keep your email address (and your first name, if you give it).
- We use it only to send you the newsletter: free stories, new releases, and news about the Queen City Private Eye series.
- We never sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
- You can unsubscribe any time, in one click, from any email.
What we collect, and why
When you join the Queen City newsletter, we collect:
- Your email address, so we can send you the newsletter.
- Your first name, only if you choose to give it, so emails can greet you by name.
That’s it. We don’t ask for your address, phone number, or payment details. This website has no accounts and no logins.
Who sends the emails: MailerLite
The Queen City newsletter is sent using MailerLite, an email service. Your email address (and first name, if given) is stored in our MailerLite account so the newsletter can be delivered. Like most email services, MailerLite records whether emails are delivered, opened, and whether links in them are clicked. We use those numbers only to see which emails readers find useful. You can read how MailerLite handles data in the MailerLite privacy policy.
Free stories through StoryOrigin
Free stories, like The Twenty-Four Dollar Setup and The City Hall Fix, are delivered through StoryOrigin, a service authors use to send ebooks to readers. When you claim a free story, you sign up on StoryOrigin’s page, and StoryOrigin collects your email address so it can deliver the book. When you claim one, you may also be added to the Queen City newsletter, and StoryOrigin passes your email address to our MailerLite account for that purpose. StoryOrigin’s own handling of your information is covered by the StoryOrigin privacy policy.
Confirming your email
Some sign-up forms ask you to confirm your email address before you’re added. If you get a confirmation email, click the link in it to finish joining the Queen City newsletter.
Unsubscribing
Every Queen City newsletter email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it any time and you’re off the list. No questions, no hard feelings. You can also email us and ask to be removed, or ask us to delete your details.
No selling, no sharing
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing. The only services that handle it are the ones named on this page, and only so the newsletter, the free stories, and this website can work.
This website: Cloudflare hosting
queencityprivateeye.com is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and keep the site secure, Cloudflare may process basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, in its server logs. Cloudflare may also add a small script that hides the contact email address from spam bots. You can read how Cloudflare handles data in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
No advertising trackers
This website uses no advertising trackers, no social media tracking pixels, and no analytics scripts. The fonts are hosted on this site, not loaded from an outside service. Links to Amazon or StoryOrigin take you to their sites, where their own privacy policies apply.
